Work better together

Are you looking to bring your team members together? Maybe you want to generate ideas, create plans, solve problems or review your work. Or perhaps you need to focus on the team itself, improving team collaboration and communication.
A team doesn’t instantly become a team just because they work together. Creating a team in which people operate in harmony, all pulling in the same direction, takes more than sharing a team name.
Why choose Jewell Facilitation for your Team Away Day Facilitation?
Your team may be feeling a bit fragmented, unsure of its identity and purpose or how it should operate.
You may be experiencing communication problems, crossed wires and missed deadlines as things are not quite as well-honed as they should be.
Or your team could be working well together, with clear purpose and a solid culture, but the work that is being done needs refining or reviewing or needs an injection of new ideas or boost of motivation.
In other instances, the structures, systems and processes might be clear, but the team can get stuck as situations and people change and evolve. Even though the team was working well together, things have drifted, and problems are appearing.

If you are looking for a team away day facilitator that makes your team members come away thinking it was a day well spent, we've got you covered.
Our team away days can be one offs, or a longer series of events and can be facilitated in person, online, or using a dazzling blend of both.
An engaging, interactive and enjoyable away day
Helene and her team facilitated a large, whole team away day in Bristol. Prior to the even Helene was able to plan an event that met our needs and suggest additional items to enhance the day. With over 100 attendees Helene provided an engaging, interactive and enjoyable away day.
We tailor solutions to your needs

Different teams need different things, but some common areas of focus are:
Team purpose
Knowing what your team is there to do, helping you all pull together in the same direction.
Ways of working
Including roles and responsibilities and structures.
Team Communication
One of those things that can very easily get messy causing intense frustration and preventing work from being done.
Operational plans
Getting clear on objectives and setting clear actions so you can get to where you want to be.
Team culture
Shaping what defines you as a team so it is clear who and what you are.
Team alignment
Making sure everything and everyone is working in harmony, so you get the results you need.
Trust, relationships and team dynamics
Embedding and solidifying those connections so you work together as a team.
Commitment and accountability
Ensuring that people are on board, and things get done so you know how your plans are progressing.
Roles, responsibilities, and ways of working
Defining the way things get done so there is no duplication of effort.
The benefits of hiring a facilitator for a team away day
Everyone contributes
When you bring your team together for a team away day you want to get the most out of everyone and get input from all the different corners of the room! Some people find it hard to contribute, to say what they think in the moment. Others are more vocal, and some are simply more reflective and take their time. A facilitator finds different ways for people to engage, ensuring all voices are heard.
Avoid groupthink
One of the beautiful things about a team is that it contains a range of diverse opinions. Bringing in a facilitator who will actively encourage diverse ideas and perspectives will make sure you don’t end up drifting into groupthink (the death of great ideas!)

Motivation and engagement
When people work together on a team away day, you need something that is going to keep them motivated and engaged, and even allows them to have fun. A facilitator will design a day that will keep everyone interested and invested in the process, so they enthusiastically contribute and work together.
Useful outcomes
One of the things about those badly run team away days that we all dread is when there aren’t defined outcomes and no one can remember what was achieved. To make your away day worthwhile, you need to end up with clear and specific outcomes. A facilitator will keep a laser focus on your specified objectives so it’s more than just a nice day out with great biscuits.

What does a Team Away Day facilitator do?
In essence, a team away day facilitator helps improve the way a team works together. They do this by guiding and managing group discussions to ensure effective communication, collaboration, and engagement of all team members during an away day. The facilitator will work with you to define goals and expected outcomes for the day, and design and facilitate the process.
What are the benefits of hiring a Team Away Day facilitator?
A facilitator ensures there is good group engagement by keeping discussions flowing and managing group dynamics so that you can take part in the conversation itself. They expertly manage any tricky discussions to prevent the session becoming heated and unproductive. Great ideas often come from opposing ideas and diverse opinions and the key is ensuring all discussions, no matter how diverse, are managed well.
A facilitator will enable those who don’t normally speak up to find their voice by creating an environment where people are comfortable and able to share. They will use a range of different processes and tools motivate people to invest their enthusiasm and energy in the discussion. A team away day facilitator is ‘content neutral’ and will not share their opinion of your great ideas. Instead, their focus is on encouraging effective communication and meaningful collaboration.
What might I expect from a Team Away Day?
An engaging day with a variety of discussions, small group work, whole group work, writing, thinking, sharing and reflecting as well as some fun if appropriate.
The day will include a range of activities to suit the people in your team – seamlessly ensuring introverts and extroverts enjoy the day equally.
How is a Team Away Day different from a Team Building session?
A facilitated team away day focuses on bringing people together to discuss ideas, have productive conversations and generate outputs in a collaborative way.
While our sessions are creative and often fun, the focus is not on mountain climbing, raft building, or axe throwing – activities which you may find in a team building session!
We believe that team development happens through a carefully designed process and not just a single activity.
What is the process of working with a Team Away Day facilitator?
Every team away day is different, which is why we will work with you to understand what you need. We then prepare a short proposal outlining our ideas and costs.
Once approved, we then meet with you (often several times) before the actual day as we develop the workshop plan to make sure that it fits your needs.
After the away day, we can provide a write-up of the workshop outputs if required. We always recommend a debrief session following the away day.
What are the costs of hiring a Team Away Day facilitator?
The costs of any away day will vary depending on the length and complexity of the away day, the number of participants, and the specific services provided.
A facilitator will typically have a day rate, and charge for the day of facilitation itself, as well as preparation time. They may also offer a write-up of outputs at the end of the session and will add this to their costs.
What are some ideas for a Team Away Day?
A facilitator has a great number of tools and ideas at their disposal to get the best out of an away day. Their aim is to design a day that engages the team and achieves the goals set for the team.
The day will include team-development activities such as those focusing on relationship building and building trust and connection between team members. It may also include aspects of team alignment such as working out how to improve team communication, the identity of the team and ways of working.
You may find that there are specific elements that you would like the Away Day to focus on such as strategy creation, idea generation, reflection and feedback, action planning or understanding your team purpose.
