Harness the power of the group

We don't tell people what they should know, we ask them what they think. We do this by designing and facilitating bespoke workshops and events that will get people discussing and exploring together, to generate new ideas, create better plans or review the brilliant work they have done.
Bespoke workshop facilitation
tailored to your needs
While endless emails and phone calls may give the impression that a lot of work is going on, sometimes there is no shortcut to getting the right people in the same room (whether virtual or in person) to get stuff done.
We believe that by making space for those important conversations and having the right workshop facilitator to manage them you will get to where you need to far more efficiently.

We will help you get the best from gathering your people together, ensuring they work collaboratively towards specific objectives.
We work together with you to clearly define those objectives so that you get the outcomes you need.
Each workshop will be designed with your input as we focus on creating a process that is just right for your needs and has not just the right tools and techniques, but the right tone and feel and energy for you.
Helene facilitated very flexibly on the day...It was a weight off our shoulders
Our NHS programme hosted a ‘discovery workshop’ in Jan 23 which Helene facilitated and helped us prepare for. Helene quickly gained a thorough understanding of our workshop aims after just a couple of meetings and suggested a number of activities to make the workshop engaging. In our original brief we had expected 40-60 attendees, however this quickly grew to nearly 100 a week before the event. Helene quickly adapted to the change in numbers. Helene facilitated very flexibly on the day as we realised some activities may take longer or may not be necessary and we had a lot to cover in a short time. It was a weight off our shoulders to have someone as organised as Helene to help us with all of the preparation. On behalf of the UCP Programme, thank you!

The benefits of workshop facilitation
A workshop facilitator will keep your workshop or event on track and tie together the threads of discussion.
The facilitator will expertly bring the workshop to a timely conclusion and ensure there are defined outcomes. The result is the polar opposite to the many meetings that take up time with little to show at the end.
A workshop facilitator has a huge toolkit from which they will select the best tools and techniques for your group to craft a defined process so that the people in the workshop are fully engaged.
Group dynamics can be complex and need to be managed well.
A workshop facilitator allows different perspectives and opinions to be shared, while keeping discussions productive rather than destructive. Workshop facilitation creates space for these discussions, taking into account the diversity in the room, and ensures that not just the loudest voices are heard.

Case studies
How we’ve helped real teams, just like yours.
Developing an Environmental Action Plan

Jewell Facilitation provided support for the creation of an Environmental Action Plan for Hampshire Cultural Trust.
This plan was aligned to the strategic aims of the Trust as well as a number of key objectives outlined in their wider strategy. It was created for the team to work with over the coming year.
Redefining the Customer Journey

Designability, a Bath-based charity that provides services for disabled people, engaged Jewell Facilitation to support the organisation with two Away Days.
The first of these was with the board and members of the senior leadership team exploring and agreeing strategic priorities. The second was to enable a cross functional team to generate ideas for the expansion of the charity’s key service.

What is the difference between training and facilitation?
Training involves the delivery of new content for learning, while the focus of facilitation is on supporting a group to collaborate and generate their own ideas or plans and to share knowledge to meet a defined objective. The facilitator is ‘content neutral’ so doesn’t bring their own ideas into the session.
What do you mean by stakeholder?
A stakeholder is an individual or representative from an organisation that has an interest in the topic being discussed. They are affected by the outcomes of the discussion but can also influence those outcomes.
What do you mean by multi-stakeholder events and workshops?
Multi–stakeholder events and workshops are those that involve participants attending as individuals, or as representatives from different organisations all coming together to as a group. They don’t necessarily know each other but attend the session because they are collaborating on something or have a shared interest in contributing to the discussion that is being facilitated.
What is the difference between an event and a workshop?
An event usually refers to a larger gathering and may have several workshops as part of the event and include presentations and different sessions. A workshop tends to be a smaller, more focused entity with specific defined aims, although it could still have several hundred people participating!
What is workshop facilitation?
Workshop facilitation is a process of guiding and managing a group in such a way that it encourages effective participation, maximising collective creativity and resulting in shared outcomes.
What does a workshop facilitator do?
A workshop facilitator designs and develops a workshop plan, then guides the process of the workshop, ensuring that the group is able to work together effectively to achieve the workshop’s objectives.
How does Jewell Facilitation approach workshop facilitation?
At Jewell Facilitation we bring adaptability, flexibility and creativity to every workshop, while ensuring there is a gentle but respectful pushing of boundaries to allow different perspectives to surface. We start by understanding the objectives and developing clear workshop process plans. We then outline activities and approaches, timings and expected outcomes for each part of the workshop.
What is the definition of facilitation?
Facilitation is the process of making tasks easier for others, often used in a business or organisational context to improve efficiency and productivity. Facilitation makes it easier for a group of people to have productive discussions and enables them to move forwards together to reach a shared objective.
What is the role of a facilitator?
A facilitator is there as someone from the outside, who understands the needs and dynamics of the group, but who isn’t actually a part of it. Their role is to guide the group as it works together through tasks, discussions or challenges towards a goal or outcome.
What are the benefits of hiring a professional facilitator?
A professional facilitator will take over the reins of the workshop, allowing you to fully participate in the workshop (or allowing you to fully step away from the workshop, which can free up discussions if needed). Either way, the facilitator ensures that the workshop is run effectively, allowing all participants to contribute equally while managing any conflict. Ultimately the benefits of hiring a professional facilitator are that the group will achieve their objectives, on time, in a positive way.
Why is workshop facilitation important?
Workshop facilitation is important as it encourages effective participation, maximises collective creativity and results in shared outcomes, leading to improved team communication and productivity.
